Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in biology and my master's degree in biomolecular science from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. My foray into teaching began while I was pursuing my master's. I was a teaching assistant for a human anatomy and physiology lab where I taught undergraduate students about the human anatomy, making use of cadavers and models. Although I had some prior tutoring experience, it is this role that really ignited my enthusiasm for teaching. I've discovered that my desire to learn science has been eclipsed by my desire to encourage other individuals to learn science as well. It's fulfilling to see exactly when my students grasp a concept. It's like watching the light bulb switch go on. As far as subjects go, I'm able to help students with the majority of the sciences. My first choices are general biology, biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology. My main goal with tutoring is to be flexible when it comes to understanding each individual's unique approach to absorbing the material. I also focus on creating a fun and memorable learning environment where students feel comfortable to go at their own pace. Outside of teaching, I like to spend my time playing the guitar, visiting aquariums and zoos, and catching up with friends and family.
