Experience

I was tutored when I was a kid and seeing how much it helped me makes me want to give other kids the same privilege I had. Tutoring is often something kids dread, but my tutor made it fun for me. Even though I would have rather been out playing basketball or playing with the other kids in the neighborhood, I always looked forward to going to see my tutor. The reason I want to tutor is because I think I would make it fun for the kids while keeping it serious at the same time. Most kids feel uncomfortable when they have to go learn from someone they've never met before, but I believe I'd be the perfect candidate to tutor younger kids, while keeping them focused and entertained. I am currently finishing school part-time at VCU with a Finance major. Math has always been my strong subject and I always enjoyed math because it was the one subject that I felt rewarded when I solved a problem. Problem solving has always been something I've enjoyed and math in general is a lot of problem solving. I have been with Scotts Lawn Service doing door-to-door sales for the past two years now, and I am starting a job Thursday with Hyman Brothers as a car salesman. Throughout my youth years, all the way into high school I won multiple awards with the best grade in certain subjects, and I've always been a hard worker. My GPA when I graduated high school was a 4.3. I have taken several classes all the way through multiple calculus classes. Math comes easy to me, and I want the kids I tutor to know the feeling of reward when they get problems right. I've always enjoyed working with kids and dream to coach youth sports at some point in my near future.

Hobbies

I played basketball, football, and baseball as I grew up. I stopped playing baseball in 8th grade but continued football and basketball through my high school years. I could have played basketball at a division 3 college, but I chose to go to James Madison University to enjoy my college years as a typical student. I was always an outdoor kid. I grew up in a neighborhood of friends playing tag, wall ball, woofle ball, video games, and tons of other fun activities. Even though I played sports and liked to have fun, school work was always first. Every day I got home from school I made it a point to get all of my homework done before I went out and had fun. This is a discipline I taught myself, not something my parents made me do. I was always an honor roll student all the way through high school and only got one C as a senior in high school.
